Over 350 different individuals between the ages of 4 and 30 years participate in adaptive programming at the Langham Creek Family YMCA. Many of these families go through hard times financially due to medical bills, specialized equipment for their children, and other needs just to help their child live a normal life. Our adaptive programs provide the opportunity for families to participate in activities like baseball, basketball, soccer, flag football, swimming lessons, and parent’s night outs. Not only does the Y provide a time of respite for caregivers, we also provide the opportunity for children to develop social skills and have interaction with peers. Families have the chance to participate in Y programming through adaptive programs, but also as members of the Y. Children can participate in child watch, IDK, and summer camp when we are able to provide the appropriate resources for them. Without the Y, many families would have no other place to turn. All sports programming for adaptive sports at the Y is completely FREE to families.
