Katy ISD Education Foundation

Our mission is to provide resources to enrich teaching, inspire learning, and enhance opportunities for students enrolled in Katy ISD.

My name is Tom Crockett.  When I was a junior in high school, an immersive, enthusiastically-done, participatory physics lab made me realize how much I loved science.  Now, I have three physics degrees from Texas A&M University and Washington University in St. Louis.  I've held a presidential appointment in the Pentagon's primary test and evaluation agency and now work as a Department of Defense contractor.  In my career, I've been able to work on some of the hardest problems our military faces and the most complex pieces of machinery our nation develops.  I owe all of that to the amazing education I received in the public schools of Katy, Texas, and the amazing teachers I had at Taylor High School.  The Katy ISD Education Foundation empowers those teachers by injecting funds into curricular projects, making demonstrations and projects like the ones I loved available to every kid in Katy.  I believe wholeheartedly in that mission, and that's why I'm running in the Katy 5k to raise money for them.

For the last 6 years, public school teachers in my hometown have been able to apply for over $1.3 million in grants to support in-classroom projects.  These grants, funded by the Katy ISD Education Foundation, give students the opportunity to explore PE activities full of fun, science and engineering projects full of discovery, and writing projects full of introspection and growth.  In addition, all of the funds raised in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Harvey went directly to affected students and teachers to help them buy food and shelter after the storm.

Check out more of the great work being done by the Katy ISD Foundation here:

I've set a goal of $500 raised from my friends and family by race day on February 2, 2019, and would love to see us exceed it.  Any small amount counts, so please throw in what little you can today!
