Located in Houston, Texas, Bel Inizio helps disadvantaged women develop self-confidence and life skills through fitness and nutrition. Participants train to complete a 5K, which helps prepare them for the ultimate race — the race for a better life.
Houston has a generous giving community and great compassion for those in need. We have emergency shelters, transitional housing, and half-way houses. The agencies offer case workers, recovery programs, and job skills training. What gets lost, and is critically needed, is helping individuals achieve the self esteem and confidence that can come from an ongoing exercise and nutrition program.
How do feel about yourself? On a good day a 10? On a bad day an 8? Bel Inizio clients rate themselves consistently low: a 2 or a 3. They have made bad choices and had bad things happen and now they believe they cannot do anything right.
Bel Inizio changes that. We help clients set a stretch goal (completing a 5K), and them teach them the tools to use to achieve it. This is a success they carry with them in staying sober, getting a job, being a better parent, and going back to school.
I run for Bel Inizio because I personally know how fitness and nutrition can build self-esteem and move each of us forward in our race for a better life. Please support me as I run for Bel Inizio. Thank you.
