Houston Pets Alive!

Our mission:

HPA!’s mission is to rescue animals most at risk of euthanasia, reduce the number of unwanted animals, and find the animals forever families.

Where is the need?

There are 1.2 million stray animals and two open-intake shelters in Houston. We work with BARC, Harris County Animal Control, and Baytown Animal Shelter to increase live outcomes through robust adoption programs, high-volume spay and neuter partnerships, political advocacy and community education. We are determined to make Houston (and Harris County) the largest No-Kill city in the country.

What do we do?

We’re not your average rescue. We act as a safety net for our municipal shelters, to save the animals who have no other options. Every day we receive a list of animals who are at risk of euthanasia. We save as many animals as we can, between space in our shelter and in foster homes. We know that saving lives is a community effort, and we’re committed to saving the lives that others won’t- which is why we specifically take neonatal or “bottle baby” kittens, nursing moms, dogs and cats with illnesses or injuries, and those with behavior issues. We are committed to developing programs alongside our local shelters, and together, we will work to save even more lives.

In 2018, we saved 3000 lives from euthanasia.

Who is Houston Pets Alive?

Houston Pets Alive! is a 501(c)3 organization. We are comprised of animal loving volunteers and staff who never stop working to save the next life.

My wife and I have been actively supporting Rescue Groups in Houston over the last 10 years.
It is sad to say, but Houston has a terrible problem, with neglected, abused, and abandoned animals.
We cant save all of them, but we can make a difference, by saving one at a time.
Please help me achieve my modest goal of $500.00.
Any donation, any amount, will help more than you can imagine!
