The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is the global leader accelerating the pace of research progress for one of the world’s deadliest cancers. With an urgent mission to improve outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients and double survival by 2020, the organization, founded in 1999, executes a bold and comprehensive strategy to Wage Hope through research, patient services, advocacy and community engagement. The organization’s visionary goals, world-class programs and services, extensive grassroots network, patient-focused outcomes and advisory board of scientific and medical leaders, provide the critical backdrop to help pancreatic cancer patients today and create transformational change for all patients in the future.
On the weekend of December 2nd, 2017 I will be participating in the Run Houston! FOR A CAUSE race alongside my Alpha Delta Nu nursing honor society team members in support of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network!
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is a nonprofit organization aimed to advance research efforts, improve outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients, and double survival rate by the year 2020. The organization strives to reach their goals through research, patient services, advocacy, and community engagement.
On June 19th, 2015, my father (Paul, pictured above) passed away after a strong fight against pancreatic cancer. I was fortunate enough to spend the last month by his side, but I wish I had longer. Spending that time with him was what led me in the direction of nursing and finding a career that focused on helping and caring for those in need. My dad's father, and my grandfather, Paul Bendik Sr. also passed away from pancreatic cancer when I was much younger. He was one of the most kind, caring, and compassionate people I've ever met and he sure put up quite a fight. I hope that raising money for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will one day make a difference in the treatment and outcomes of those who are diagnosed and it will be able to keep the moms, dads, sisters, brothers, and friends from heading to heaven just a little too soon.
If you are able, please contribute to our cause - any amount will be truly appreciated! Thank you for your support, contribution, and for helping take action against pancreatic cancer!
P.S. November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month!!! :)
