Goal Progress

PTSD Foundation of America

The Mission of the PTSD Foundation of America is to bring hope and healing to Combat Veterans and their families suffering from the effects of combat-related Post Traumatic Stress. We have chapters across the United States that facilitate Warrior & Family Group meetings to help combat Veterans who are stuggling with PTSD. During the COVID-19 pademic we were able to keep our doors open and saw record number of Veterans come through our program at Camp Hope as well as attend our our virtual meetings held weekly.

Camp Hope, based in Houston, Texas, is a one-of-a-kind, interim and transitional housing facility where Veterans in crisis come for a 6-month peer-to-peer program that is completely free to Veterans and their families.

• The staff is comprised of Alumni of the Program, "who have been there and done that" and can speak to other Combat Veterans through experienced based mentoring

• Besides the peer to peer mentoring, residents are required to attend daily physical fitness sessions, anger management classes, parenting classes, weekly professional counseling sessions at The Refuge Counseling Center, three AA meetings a week, daily devotionals, twice a week Warrior Support Groups and 250 hours of community service

• A transitional program assists with pursuit of college / job skills support, career planning, recovery readiness, housing and family transitioning

• Family support is provided through mentors and trained, certified volunteers through weekly Family Support Groups as well as housing, when necessary (no other organization in the country provides the housing for the entire family unit)
