The Woodlands Marathon, Half, 5K and 2K
February 28 - March 1, 2014
The Woodlands, TX
I have been fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through its TEAM IN TRAINING program since 2001 as a way to do something for my mother and her fight against Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Even though she lost her battle with blood cancer over eleven years ago, I have continued to fundraise over $56,000.00 to go towards patient aid and the funding of 16 research doctors in the Texas Medical Center. Once again, blood cancer has hit close to home. Less than a month ago, my son's friend, the son of one of my husband's co-workers, was diagnosed with leukemia. Our family has known Josh for over 15 years.
I am committing the next two months to running for Josh, beginning next week when I will run 48.6 miles at the Walt Disney World Dopey Marathon Challenge and wrapping up with The Woodlands half marathon on March 1st. That is over 61 miles of running to find a cure for cancer.
Please help me to help Josh, his family, and his doctors at MD Anderson. 98% of your donation goes to patient aid, such as funds for his parents to pay for the $14 a day parking garage costs the insurance will not cover or for social workers to meet with Josh's parents and brother to help them adjust to a life with cancer. The 98% also goes towards funding research as well.
Every dollar counts! No donation is too small!
