The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) is dedicated to being the end of breast cancer by advancing the world's most promising research. Founded by Evelyn H. Lauder in 1993, BCRF-funded investigators have been deeply involved in every major breakthrough in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and metastasis. This year, BCRF has awarded $66 million in grants to support the work of nearly 275 scientists at leading medical and academic institutions across 14 countries, making BCRF the largest private funder of breast cancer research worldwide. BCRF is also the highest-rated breast cancer organization in the U.S. Visit www.bcrf.org to learn more.
Many of you know that I finished a 7 month journey of breast cancer treatment in October of 2019. My body, mind, and spirit have been tested like never before during this time. By God’s grace, I was given the strength and patience to get to the end of this journey with optimism and hope. Running was therapy for me during chemotherapy and radiation, so I am planning to use running to close this chapter and raise money for a great cause. I am participating in my first half marathon on February 8, 2020 at the Katy Half Marathon. I am running for those who are going through treatment and for the memory of those we have lost.
I have chosen the Breast Cancer Research Foundation as my Reason2Race. This foundation was formed in 1993 and is the largest private funder of breast cancer research worldwide. Their groundbreaking research has helped uncover the role genetics plays in breast cancer, how lifestyle influences breast cancer risk, and they are beginning to understand how to harness the body’s own immune system to aid in breast cancer treatment.
Please contribute to our cause. Any amount would be great: $50, $100 or other. THANK YOU for your contribution, and thank you for caring for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
