I am running for JFON (Justice for Our Neighbors) legal clinics. I am proudly running as a United Methodist pastor who believes that we are called to welcome the immigrants in our midst as brothers and sisters in the family of God. Many immigrants cannot afford the legal fees that are needed to process their papers. We can help. All funds raised in this race will go to help support these free legal clinics through our churches in Tyler and the greater Houston area. In this race, I am running for the Central South District - but the race is on between the North District and Central South District. On October 13, I am running for the North District, in the Tyler Rose Run Half Marathon. In each race, my goal is to raise $2500 to help that District reach it's $12,000 goal for JFON. Which District will support my running the most? I am throwing down the guantlet - Central South District - let's show the other Districts that we are a force to be reckoned with and let the whole world know that as United Methodists, we care about those at the margins and are putting our money where out mouth is! When we care for those living at the margins in whatever district they reside, we care for Jesus. (Check out Matthew 25:31-46). So help me out Central South. Let's give the other Districts a run for their money!
"23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever."I Corinthians 9: 23-25
