I started running three years ago because my doctor "encouraged" me to find a healthy activity due to genetic history. With my son running cross country and track in high school, I was able to see the closeknit community runners have. I decided to run. Three years later and several half marathons and my second marathon in December, I wanted to share my enthusiasm with others about running, but more important, give back to the community.
Last year at Bryant Elementary, I was lucky enough to be involved with two grants picked by the Katy ISD Education Foundation. I am seeing with my own eyes the importance of giving ALL students the opportunity to experence new things. One grant that I have seen implemented so far this year is 3D Innovators. We were able to buy a 3D printer and allow the students to design race cars and keychains on TinkerCAD. After the 6 week program, we had a celebration with the students and parents while they race their cars. I am amazed how talented these 3rd graders are. I am so blessed to be able to be part of a district that has a Foundation who helps us, the teachers, give the students an opportunity to try new things.
