The weekend of March 1, 2014, I will be supporting the foundation team and participating in the Woodlands Marathon.
This is only my second time to run in a race, the first time was the Aramco Half Marathon in Houston in 2009. This year I will be running in the 5K, however I want to build up to running in another half marathon possibly toward the end of the year. I am very excited to be running for a foundation very dear to me. I am running for Lung Cancer Foundation For Young Women, which is a non profit foundation that is promoting public awareness & education about lung cancer in young women and to provides logistcal assistance to the patients and families during this difficult time in their lives.
This foundation was an idea of Nicole Dumas, who passed away from lung cancer in 2012 and is also my daughter. We as a family were stunned when Nicole was diagnosed with lung cancer, since she had never smoked in her life. She fought the cancer for 23 months before passing away October 26, 2012.
Nicole wanted to help other young women battling this disease by providing public awareness and education of this disease through a foundation. A means to help other young women understand the early warning signs and provide them with useful information about lung cancer.
Nicole's dream became a reality in October, 2013 through the launch of LCFFYW.org dedicated to Lung Cancer Education and helping young women with logistcal assistance. We together can continue to help other young women with your tax deductable donation and support with my race goal.
