Rescued Pets Movement

Rescued Pets Movement Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides a second chance for thousands of homeless dogs and cats through rehabilitation and transport to forever homes in communities throughout the country and Canada that have a demand for adoptable pets.

Thousands of dogs and cats are needlessly euthanized in the Greater Houston area each year simply because of pet overpopulation. After working with various rescue groups for many years, the founders of Rescued Pets Movement realized that the best way to save these dogs and cats is to build solid relationships with reputable rescue groups here and in areas of the United States where there is a need for adoptable pets and transport the animals to these organizations using our own vans and drivers. The dogs and cats we save from BARC (Houston’s City Pound) and other local pounds are fully examined and treated by our partner veterinarians and placed in foster homes with our volunteers until they are ready for transport.

Since starting operations in late 2013, Rescued Pets Movement has saved the lives of over 30,000 homeless companion animals by rescuing them from Houston shelters and transporting them to permanent homes.

Every week that number grows!

I have been fostering for RPM for two years and have fostered 150 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens.

An estimated 1 million homeless dogs and cats roam the streets of Houston, TX. With many animal shelters and other animal welfare organizations operating at capacity (and often overcapacity), this overcrowding forces the city’s kill shelters to euthanize up to 85% of the animals brought in.

Rescued Pets Movement is here to change that.

Rescued Pets Movement gives pets needing homes a second chance at life by, sometimes literally, pulling pets from death row. Once saved and in loving foster homes, these pets receive the crucial rehabilitation and medical care they lacked while they were on the streets. We've teamed up with reputable animal welfare organizations in areas across the United States and Canada with a high demand for adoptable pets and then transport those pets to their forever homes.

Our model is simple - if Houston has a high number of homeless pets, we'll send them to places where people actually want to adopt animals. And it works! We've driven over 1.5 million miles to bring pets to their forever homes, and with your donation, we can continue this amazing work.
