First, I am not a cook, don't like to cook and certainly never thought I would compete in a cooking competition.  Second, I am doing this for my sister, Ellen Sutherland.  Last year I was lucky enough to experience this wonderful organization firsthand when I traveled to Guatemala with the Shared Beat group. I was amazed at what the Shared Beat volunteers do for the Guatemala people.  We traveled by bus to several small countryside villages and spent two days at the Guatemala City dump providing physicals and eye examinations to any child that showed up.  The doctors, PA's, nurses and other very qualified people spent each day sharing their expertise and love to the local people.  Third, watching my sister (Dr. Ellen Sutherland) in this special week was heartwarming…… she ROCKED!!!!  If she had treated me this kindly as I child I might have shared more candy bars!

Cake Recipe

1/2 cup chopped pecans

1 18.5 oz butter recipe golden cake mix

1 3.75 oz vanilla pudding

1/2 cup light rum

1/2 cup water

1/2 vegetable oil

4 eggs

Use bundt pan. Butter the dish then crumble nuts in the bottom of the pan. Mix all other ingredients for 2 minutes and add to pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 50-60 minutes. Add hot glaze as cake leaves oven. Punch holes to absorb.

Glaze Recipe

1 cup sugar

1 stick of butter

1/4 cup rum

1/4 cup water

Mix and boil for 2-3 minutes then pour over cake.
