The Mission of the PTSD Foundation of America is to bring hope and healing to Combat Veterans and their families suffering from the effects of combat-related Post Traumatic Stress. We have chapters across the United States that facilitate Warrior & Family Group meetings to help combat Veterans who are stuggling with PTSD. During the COVID-19 pademic we were able to keep our doors open and saw record number of Veterans come through our program at Camp Hope as well as attend our our virtual meetings held weekly.
Camp Hope, based in Houston, Texas, is a one-of-a-kind, interim and transitional housing facility where Veterans in crisis come for a 6-month peer-to-peer program that is completely free to Veterans and their families.
• The staff is comprised of Alumni of the Program, "who have been there and done that" and can speak to other Combat Veterans through experienced based mentoring
• Besides the peer to peer mentoring, residents are required to attend daily physical fitness sessions, anger management classes, parenting classes, weekly professional counseling sessions at The Refuge Counseling Center, three AA meetings a week, daily devotionals, twice a week Warrior Support Groups and 250 hours of community service
• A transitional program assists with pursuit of college / job skills support, career planning, recovery readiness, housing and family transitioning
• Family support is provided through mentors and trained, certified volunteers through weekly Family Support Groups as well as housing, when necessary (no other organization in the country provides the housing for the entire family unit)
I’m excited to share that on Sunday, September 19, 2021, I will be participating in the Run Houston! 5k event, for a specific cause. I have chosen PTSD Foundation of America as my Reason2Race. This mission of the PTSD Foundation of America is to bring hope and healing to Combat Veterans and their families suffering from the effects of combat-related Post Traumatic Stress.
I am partnering with my ABA teammate Jessica Lovell along with others to bring awareness to the PTSD Foundation of America. We are excited to volunteer at this awesome organization and most of my volunteer time will be spent at Camp Hope. Camp Hope, located in Houston Texas is a 5 acre property that houses up to 85 combat veterans and provides an extensive 6-8 month program at no cost to them or their family. Camp Hope provides combat veterans suffering from PTSD a place of refuge; a place of hope, where long-term transformational change happens. The program enables the veteran to become more mentally focused, emotionally connected, physically energized, and spiritually aligned, in a place where they can begin to thrive and flourish as a human being once again.
Please watch the VIDEO to see the impact of Camp Hope!
THANK YOU for your contribution, and thank you for caring for our combat veterans!
**PS: I would love to have you join my team so we can race together! If you cannot make it to Houston, there is also a virtual option. Just ask me how to join my team.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
